Preservation of Endangered Languages of Bangladesh: Mahale Voices
This project funded by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) endeavors to preserve endangered languages of Bangladesh. This phase of the project focuses on the Mahale community. Traditionally skilled in bamboo craftsmanship, the Mahales now face the dual threats of industrialization and cultural erosion.
This book aims to inspire future generations to protect their linguistic heritage, provide linguists with valuable insights into its connections such as with Santali and highlight the broader significance of indigenous knowledge. Preserving Mahale voices is not just about language, it is about sustaining wisdom, cultural diversity, and environmental balance in an increasingly homogenized world.
